OPHELIA

OPHELIA

The sonic texture of the composition is based on recordings of the voice of Marie-Caroline Pons reciting the poem Ophelia by Arthur Rimbaud. In this piece, the composer musically depicts Ophelia’s inner and outer spirit by drawing these two contrasting spiritual manifestations into contact with one another.

The performer uses the “Wacom Pen” and “human finger” as different characters that play their roles in the three dimensions of X, Y and Z on the barren “tablet stage” to control musical parameters in realtime and to shape the interactive musical experience.
